Fifth night free calculator

Book enough award nights in one reservation and some programs stop charging for every Nth night. Pick a program, enter the nightly rate and stay length, and see the points a long stay saves — plus who actually qualifies, which the big programs are routinely misquoted on.

Each program's benefit works differently — the rules under the results say who qualifies.

The standard award rate. This tool assumes a flat rate every night — the note below explains what variable pricing changes.

Enter the nightly award rate and your stay length to see how many nights go free.

Who gets this

Every Bonvoy member — no elite status or credit card required.

  • One reservation of consecutive nights, booked entirely with points (Standard or PointSavers awards).
  • Marriott deducts the lowest-point night in each block of five — with variable award pricing your savings are the cheapest nights, not the average.
  • Cash + Points, upgrade awards, and promotional awards (like credit-card Free Night Awards) don't qualify.

Free nights are floor(nights ÷ interval): every 5th night for Marriott and Hilton (Hilton capped at 4 free nights per stay), every 4th for IHG, always on one all-points reservation. The math assumes a flat nightly rate — Marriott actually frees the lowest-point night in each 5-night block, so with variable award pricing your real savings are the cheapest nights, not the average. Eligibility rules — Marriott for every member with no status required, Hilton for Silver-and-up elites, IHG only via the Chase IHG credit cards, Hyatt none at all — verified as of the date below.
